Waiting for Contact is an unreleased film that was intended for a summer direct-to-video release, but failed negotiations with distributors left the film untouched, and ultimately displaced when, in 1994, the film's production company fell to bankruptcy and liquidated its assets to an unknown buyer.

In 2015, an anonymous source connected to the film’s production discovered the film’s original soundtrack on a cassette tape and quietly leaked the material to torrent and file sharing websites with the accompanying artwork for the soundtrack’s intended CD release. The soundtrack has since been digitally remastered by Andrew Henry and redistributed on Bandcamp.

It is believed that a 16mm print of Waiting for Contact is being kept in the vaults of a film production conglomerate, but the exact whereabouts of this print are unclear.

The film’s director and composer are, to this day, unknown.
